Find a club

For over 100 years the Bristol & District Chess league has been offering friendly and  competitive games of chess to all abilities from beginner to Grand Master.  No matter how long you have been playing we can put you in touch with a local club and get you playing in no time.

Haven’t played league chess before? Here are seven reasons to join your local club:

  1. Competitive or friendly chess pitched at your level of play
  2. Active social scene where you can meet like minded players (and have a beer)
  3. All ages from 8 – 90 welcome and able to play. Stimulate those brains young and old!
  4. Team spirt and camaraderie. Engage in decades old rivalries across Bristol!
  5. Coaching and support to help you improve
  6. Local tournaments with cash prizes for all abilities
  7. Its cheap! Joining a club is free initially and then a modest fee (approx. £50 a year) after that.
